This paper and accompanying presentation slides were written as group projects in an organization of information course. We analyzed the metadata system of the Art Institute of Chicago, an art museum and library.
SLIS Learning Outcomes Justification
Through this project, I gained an understanding of some major standards, systems, and tools used for organizing and cataloging recorded information (including XML, metadata elements and contents, and Dublin Core), thus allowing us to organize and describe this information resource. I developed understanding of and skills for using and critically evaluating systems for information organizing and retrieval, and applied some basic standards. I also built teamwork skills in effectively communicating and sharing responsibilities with my group members.
